Project Gürzelen

Inspired by Le Corbusier’s Maison Domino principle, we implemented this concept in wood for a housing competition in Biel, Switzerland. A well thought-out access system with arcades and numerous first floor entrances ensures efficient and convenient accessibility. The central focus of the project was on creating communal areas and protecting the residents’ privacy. In cooperation with the Blumenstrasse Süd development, the building complements the urban structure of Biel and offers high-quality living space. The vertical communal corners with access are designed to promote social interaction and contribute to a responsible approach to the environment. The terraced houses are rotated by 45 degrees, which on the one hand creates privacy towards the public space and on the other hand enables an optimal east-west orientation.
